Q: The 5V and 12V 30A relays pin configurations are different. 5V relay has 4 pins and SPST type, coil resistance is 27 Ohms. So the coil will consume about 1W (185 mA). On the other hand the 12V 30A relay is a SPDT type and has 6 pins. It has a coil resistance of 160 Ohm. The 12V relay looks better in construction and pins are stout and strong in comparison with the 5V one. However, both relay coils consumes same amount of power which is 1W approx.
